Released around the world in late March / early April, ‘April Uprising’ has received the strongest and finest critical acclaim of any JBT album to date. Achieving their first ever debut in the US Billboard Top 50 charts (no. 36), and in France in the Top 30 (no. 23), showing all touring and getting their music out to their fans is paying off.
It is also the third consecutive JBT album to debut at No 1 on the Aria Charts.

The tour
JBT kicked off their national ‘April Uprising’ tour, with Blue King Brown supporting, in Freemantle last Friday, heading then to Darwin and Adelaide. News reports tell us the John Butler Trio were on the plane that made an emergency landing in Adelaide yesterday. All safe and sound luckily!
As they continue their way around the country, John took the time out to thank his devoted fans on the album going Platinum:

You all make dreams come true and I love the relationship we’ve built over time. April Uprising going platinum in this day and age of downloading is testimony to a very special friendship and the amazing journey that we’re all on together. To all of you AND the amazing teams we work with to bring this music to the masses thank you, thank you, thank you all so very much !! You f***king ROCK!!!!!!!” via SGCMedia.com

The DVD
On the eve of their national tour date, the John Butler Trio also announced the release a first-ever, behind-the-scenes documentary. The DVD ‘These Are The Days’ gives you an honest insight into the making of ‘April Uprising’ in John Butler’s new home studio, ‘The Compound’. It captures interviews, the energy of the studio and recording sessions, as well as candid moments with families and an even deeper look inside the life and spirit of John Butler.
Step back in time to April 2009, when John Butler and his new trio members Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion) and Byron Luiters (bass) began fleshing out the songs for a new JBT album in John’s rehearsal and art studio in Fremantle, Western Australia. The energy in the studio felt so right, that John chose to invest the cost of recording in another studio into his own. ‘These Are The Days – The Making Of April Uprising’ takes you inside what is now known as ‘The Compound.”
If you want a sneek-peak of the things JBT get up to, then check out this short vid:
With over an hour of hilarious behind the scene footage, life and crazy antics both inside and out of the studio, as well as tales and tribulations of life on the road, having fun and making music. With 11 singles as they were recorded, plus two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Satisfy’ and ‘Stand Up Straight’.
