Gotye is Making Memories & Mirrors

Love Gone Wrong
Gotye (aka Wally De Backer) has a cracking new single out, Somebody That I Used to Know (download
). It hits a strong personal chord with ANYONE who’s ever had a broken heart! Which is all of us, I’m sure.
I’ve been singing loudly and mostly off-key to it for I guess for about a fortnight now. Highly addictive stuff, like all his work.
Wally released the video for the single early after some a-hole leaked it.
Kimbra’s voice is amazing as well!
Making Mirrors – the album
Cannot wait for his new album, Making Mirrors, due out 19 August.
Fans can pre-order exclusive Making Mirrors album packages across digital and physical formats.
The packages include two 10-minute documentaries: The Making of Eyes Wide Open and Making Making Mirrors, four film clips (Eyes Wide Open, Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra), State Of The Art and Bronte).
There are also exclusive bonus tracks, a limited edition album artwork poster plus a limited run of Making Mirrors vinyl LPs personally signed. To check it all out, visit the Gotye web store
Album Launch Shows
Perhaps even more exciting is he’s put together a 10-piece orchestra to re-create his magic on the road:
For the first time ever, the orchestra will recreate Gotye’s unique, sample-laden music in a completely live setting. That means no click tracks or backing tracks, people. The orchestra will include Wally (Gotye) on vocals, a midi marimba, and drums. He’ll be joined by a 3-piece horn section, keyboards, guitar, bass, percussion, drumkit and backing vocals.”

I’m still totally scarrred from the 2007 Splendour incident when Gotye first played live on stage – and thousands of stupid idiots broke down the fence, knocking over security and police in the process – to storm the already packed tent, leaving me cowering under a buckling set of stairs in almost fetal position….
I think it’s high time I rectifed that irrational fear…
