iTunes 10 – a new logo and simpler interface
iTunes 10 was launched and made available for download immediately. Some of the changes include simpler interface, better syncing and easier ways to organise your apps and content.
With AirPlay now you can wirelessly play your favourite music anywhere in the house.
Also with the release of a new Apple TV, there’s loads of more content for you to rent.
Ping
Also announced with iTunes 10 last week was Ping, Apple’s new social media application.
Jobs says, “it’s like Twitter and Facebook together, a social media for music” … because we don’t already have one of those, hey MySpace?
Apple Press Release
SAN FRANCISCO-September 1, 2010-AppleĀ® today introduced iTunesĀ® 10 with Ping, a new music-oriented social network for following your favorite artists and friends to discover what music they’re talking about, listening to and downloading. iTunes Ping lets you post your thoughts and opinions, your favorite albums and songs, the music you’ve downloaded from iTunes, plus view concert listings and tell your friends which concerts you plan to attend.”
Where to Start – How to Join
Download iTunes 10 for yourself and just have a play. It’s easy to navigate and use.
Ping is built into iTunes, so log in using your iTunes signup and find the Ping icon (left hand nav). It will prompt you to set up your Ping profile first, then you can get in and take a look around. Note: make sure (just like Facebook), you set your privacy settings immediately.
- Discover new music, friends music, favourite artists, share your music
- Follow your favourite artists, follow friends, and be followed
- Post your thoughts and opinions, photos, videos, add comments
- Find concert listings of your favourite artists (or nearby) with ability to RSVP, comment etc
You’ll notice once you’re back in the iTunes store, that you’ll have “like” and “post” buttons against music content.

Tickets to Stereosonic selling fast
As they finalise artists and plans for the fourth annual Stereosonic 2010, ticket sales are already well underway.
Stereosonic ethos:
Try to provide the best lineup, the best venues, the best experience whilst improving each year at the best possible price.”
Perhaps proving that ethos, Stereosonic is also celebrating winning top honours for some of In The Mix “Favourite Festivals”:

- Runners-Up: for Qld and SA
If you’re into your electronic dance music, then it should be a staple on your yearly festival calendar, or your “festical” as we like to call it, (not to be confused with testical, when erm uni exams are on).
So, grab your tickets and mark the dates with indelible ink in your diary!

A Tops Festival
Not only is Stereosonic tops. It’s also a “Tops On Festival”.

That’s the only downside (or upside, depending how you view it).
